Launch

The launch section of the planning dashboard is where you can run the shortage calculation and issue work orders. This is the beginning of the production process, the key functionality of the shortage calculation is to find out what stock you are short of for a particular work order. Issuing the work order is key as this is kicking off the production by sending this to the production floor. It is important to note that you can also get to these features in other dashboards.

Shortage Calculation

To investigate any shortages for a specific work order, you can utilise the shortage calculation feature. Begin by clicking on “Shortage Calculation,” which will open the “Calculate Shortage for the Works Order” screen. To initiate a new shortage calculation, click “Add” in the top left corner.

Once you click “Add,” the system will display a list of work orders. From this list, you will need to choose the specific work orders for which you want to perform a calculation.

After you have selected the works order you will need to enter a calculation name and review the settings that impact the calculation. When you are happy with the settings press “Run the calculation”.

Component stock calculation mode:

  • On all the storage sites available: This will look at all storage sites to see if there is any availability.

  • Only in the component storage site: This will only look at the storage site specified against the component part.

Deduction of requirements from launched WOs:

  • Not activated: This will do the opposite to the below.

  • Activated: When this is ticked Fortee reduces the requirements from works orders that are already issued into production, from the available quantity of the component.

The calculation will then run and show you a list of results. The results are split into shortages and feasible works orders:

You can then look into the works order stock figures in more detail by clicking on the binoculars:

Issue Works Order

Issuing a works order initiates the production process for a part. To accomplish this, simply click on the “Issue Works Order” icon. This action will display a grid containing all works orders that are pending issuance.

The next step involves selecting the works orders you wish to initiate into production. To do this, tick the corresponding white boxes on the left-hand side for each desired order. Alternatively, if you intend to select all orders, you can click the “Select All” option at the bottom.

Before proceeding with the launch, you need to decide which documents, if any, you wish to print. To make your selection, choose one of the options listed below:

Once you are satisfied with your selection of works orders and documents, press the “Launch in Production and Print Documents” button. This action will move the works orders from the current list to the next stage in the process.
